Non ho trovato topic al riguardo per cui, dopo alcuni giorni passati a spaccarmi il cranio, riporto qui' la soluzione che ho scovato su internet per poter condividere il file system del mio OSX 10.5.5 da un PC Vista Home Premium (se mai a qualcuno interesserà) .
La configurazione Sharing dello OSX era posto, le coppie user/password degli account sui 2 computer erano identiche, la rete era a posto ma purtroppo continuava a non funzionare (mentre da OSX a Vista non c'erano problemi e neppure da Windows XP a OSX)
La soluzione è riassunta nel seguente post:

Using Vista Home Premium I was unable to locate secpol.msc, even though the Windows Help system tells me it should be there. A friend looked at a Vista Ultimate install and didn't find it either, making me believe it's not at all standard with the released version.

The solution, however, is pretty easy using the registry.

The key:


HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel

controls the security level mandated or allowed for logins. In Vista it defaults to 0x3, which means "NTLMv2 only". This is not supported by Samba, or at least not supported by any of the Samba servers I use (Mac OS X, Debian Sarge, or Buffalo TeraStation). This is despite the fact that the Samba documentation implies that it should work.

The fix is to change it to 0x1, which means "use NTLMv2 if available, or older versions if not." Reboot. Samba shares will work just fine.

Alcune considerazioni:
- da me il Reboot non è stato necessario, è partito tutto alla grande alla prima connessione per condividere
- secpol.msc è una GUI che Microsoft distribusce (pare!) solo su Vista Business e che permette di evitare l'uso di regedit (programma pericoloso)
- chissà se OSX un giorno implementerà questo NTLMv2 !?

Anche se è l'ennesima prova che con Vista l'hanno fatta grossa
