ho comprato dalla Crucial 2x1GB RAM per fare l'update del mio MacMini Intel core duo 1,66.

In parallelo ho fatto lo stesso per il mio MacBook Pro Intel core duo. Qui non ho avuto problemi.

Con il mini, a parte l'apertura non proprio easy, ho sostituito le mie due vecchie 2x256 e ... mi vede solo quella inserita nella Bank 1/DIMM 1.
Ho rifatto tutta l'operazione ma idem.
Sono andato in rete per capire quale delle due (superiore o sottostante) fosse la Bank 0 e mi sono imbattuto in un forum in cui piu' persone hanno avuto lo stesso problema. Cito :

I have a mac mini 1.66Gz Intel Core Duo that game with 2x512MB memory for a total of 1GB. I just bought some Patriot Memory (2x1GB memory total of 2GB - PC2-5300 667MHz SO DIMM).

The problem I'm having is that once I install it the OS only recognizes 1GB total in one BANK and EMPTY on the other. Then I took them out and put another set of memory from my MacBook that has the same specs a total of 2GB and the same thing. The MacBook memory I got from OWC macsales.com and works fine on the MacBook. I put back the memory that came with the Mac Mini and that is still working fine and shows 512MB in both BANKS (SLOTS).

I have the same problem, 2x1Gb from Crucial will not see Bank 0, not even when I have replaced the old 2x512Mb, done all the resets,taken out and replaced the ram etc, it's runs but will not see Bank 0.

Ok... the problem is we got a bad Logic Board. I called Apple Care and they said to take it into a store to have the Genius check it out. We are over the year so the A.C. Rep said we might have to pay. I went to the store to explain the situation and that there was no way of knowing that the memory slot was bad unless we actually upgraded our RAM. They covered it free of charge... everything works now.

So first thing I would do is call Apple Care and explain your problem. Then take it to the Apple Store. If you have Apple Care then you should be fine.

Il fatto e' che questo Mac l'ho comprato 2-3 anni fa negli states e non vorrei pagare uno sproposito con la assistenza qui.
